CHRISTMAS GIFTS:

1) Zulu Baskets and Beadwork

This project started over 20 years ago in Kwa Zulu Natal, with the objective of reviving some of the traditional Zulu handcrafts which were in danger of dying out at that time, as well as providing a guideline for self-sufficiency for the Zulu women of the area. The main objective is employment and income-generation, the mission statement being:

“To improve the income and living standards of the Zulu people through their own efforts, by developing cottage industry, guidance regarding market requirements and marketing the resultant products”

2) Christmas Africa

Zulu Christmas Decorations

The Zulu “Christmas Project” began as a means of developing existing talents and to provide employment for a group of 40 Zulu women in the remote Mfekayi area of Northern Zululand.

The demand for the little beaded tree ornaments has created a “success” story for this group of rural women, who previously had no means of regular income, or opportunity to sell their wares.
